The Story Inn currently offers eighteen tastefully decorated rooms and cottages. Each room has a unique history with unique amenities, so we gave them names rather than numbers. All rooms are non-smoking, and have a full private bathroom and air conditioning. To preserve the unique quality of this historic setting, none of our rooms have televisions, telephones, clocks or radios.
You may order the "Bed & Breakfast Package" at the time you book your room, which will allow you to enjoy a full breakfast from our menu for only $9/person, plus tax and gratuity.
ROOM RATES will differ, depending upon whether they are "Premium", "Peak" or "Non-Peak" times, as defined below.
"Premium" rates apply to the following dates: Every Friday and Saturday in October; Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends; Thanksgiving Day and the weekend following Thanksgiving; New Year's Eve; the Friday and Saturday preceding Valentine's Day; and the weekends of the Indiana Wine Fair and the Hoosier Hops & Harvest.
"Peak" rates apply to all rooms mid-April through November, as well as all Saturdays in December through mid-April, unless the "Premium" rates otherwise apply.
"Non-Peak" rates apply December through mid-April, excluding Saturdays and days in which the "Premium" rates otherwise apply. Before Labor Day, 2013, Non-Peak rates will apply Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well.

Check in is 3:00 p.m., and check out is at 11:00 a.m., unless you make special arrangements with us. PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to arrive after 9:00 p.m., please call us. We cannot guarantee that a live human being will check you in late at night.
DOG LOVERS: We welcome your canine companions in the following ten rooms: Wheeler Front, Doc Story, Schultz Back, Old Mill Loft, Wilkerson Front and Back, as well as in the four Garrison rooms, for an additional fee of $10/dog/night. IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have free-ranging chickens here at the Story Inn, and will hold you responsible if your dog harms them. Please keep your dog leashed if it poses a threat to our chickens.
HORSE LOVERS: We can also offer a 12' x 12' stall for your equine companion while you stay with us, at an additional cost of $20/horse/night. You will need to fax us the Coggins immunization records, and make arrangements to rent a stall at the time you book your room. Our fax number is (812) 988-6516. Sorry, but we cannot offer pasture turn-out or feed.
PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to book online you must have a valid credit or debit card. We do not accept American Express. Sorry, but we cannot hold a room for you to pay cash on arrival. If you ignore our prohibition against smoking in the rooms, we will charge your credit card for a cleaning fee, as well as for damage resulting from burns to carpets, linens and upholstery. NOTE: we do not sell tobacco products.

Wheeler Homestead Front
Historic Vernacular-style cottage with locally-harvested and milled hardwood floors set with square nails, queen-sized bed and covered porch. In June, 2012, we restored this cottage to bring back many of its historic features. We have made a few concessions to modernity, such as indoor plumbing, heating and air-conditioning. The bathroom has as a roomy shower (with seat), but no tub.

The Old Mill Loft
The loft of this 19th century grain mill is now a spacious cottage with a king-sized bed, sitting area, and a 250 gallon horse trough which serves as a bath tub. Guests walk past prohibition-era equipment that once served local moonshiners, and then upstairs into an open greenhouse, all paneled with native timber. Truly a unique experience.

Doc Story House
The "Doc Story House" is one of the oldest buildings in town, and once served as the private residence of Dr. George Story. This historic Victoran-style home, which sits on a bluff above the town that still bears the doctor's name, was restored in early 2011. We have made a few concessions to modernity, such as providing air-conditioning and reliable indoor plumbing. Full-sized antique bed, breakfast nook, and covered porch.

Garrison Cabin: The Gunflint Room
A spacious room upstairs which has walls paneled in locally-harvested cedar, natural pinewood floors, a vaulted ceiling, and an eight-foot wide wooden deck with a clear "shot" at the Story Inn's century-old barn. King-sized bed, queen-sized sleeper sofa, spacious bathroom with tub and shower, mini-fridge and coffee maker. Also, Mr. Garrison's passion for fishing is much in evidence throughout. Note: The "Gunflint" and "Tree house" rooms can be connected by opening two security doors between them, in order to accommodate larger families or groups.

Mr. Garrison's view of the Second Amendment is also much in evidence, as well as the family's affiinity for the mountains, skiing, big game hunting and the grand , rugged style of Western living.
