STORY INN RESTAURANT:

    For years, the Story Inn’s flagship restaurant has been acclaimed as one of the finest in the State of Indiana.  In 2002, the Story Inn became the first restaurant in Indiana to ban hydrogenated oils.  We are pleased that New York City followed our example four years later.   

    The Story Inn's immodest mission is to define and refine authentically Hoosier cuisine.  We begin with local ingredients.  We offer locally-grown produce, eggs and fruit; locally-raised elk, bison and Angus, herbs and garnishes grown and harvested in our own garden, and even locally-produced maple syrup.  We then place these raw materials into the hands of our talented chefs.  We match the finished product with fine wines from near and far.  The result: an experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere.     

    The main dining room is a place of enchantment. Imagine sipping an elegant wine at a small wooden table topped by crisp white linens, fresh flowers and an oil lamp. Above your head is the original stamped sheet metal ceiling of this quaint 1916 building; below your feet are creaky hardwood floors. You are surrounded by artifacts of a bygone era: logging tools, a pot bellied stove, bric-a-brac from the old General Store that once served Moon Pies and Nehi's to locals sitting on the liar's bench out front.  You enjoy a fine homemade soup or crisp salad of local mixed greens and herbs from the garden just outside the door.

    You can enjoy this elegance at a reasonable price. Dress casually, and take off your watch.  The main restaurant seats up to 80 people.  We can also cater to parties of up to 40 people in the Old Mill, a 19th century grain mill still standing as silent testimony to the region's prohibition-era economy.
