Call (800) 881-1183 for reservations. ******************************************** Quicker Than the Eye He was a prestidigitator beyond compare. The Amazing Roberto Clappini built a reputation for performing card tricks that could deceive even the most well-trained eye. His latest trick was proclaimed to be one that would take the art of slight of hand to a new level. he trick was always performed with cards manufactured by Svengesi's Strong Suits, the Bulgarian company that is known worldwide for its outstanding product. Clappini swore by the cards' quality and refused to consider using any other brand. Now, though, Svengesi's renown has taken a hit - struck by the same blow that killed Clappini after last night's performance at Finger Lake. But, authorities have a clue about the identity of the murderer, or to be more accurate, a handful of clues. For, before he died, Clappini had the strength and wherewithal to pull several cards from the deck and attempt to tell authorities what happened. It would take skill and investigative expertise to identify the perpetrator of the crime - and to deal out a hand that cold only be described as a "royal flush." Louise LaSage: Clappini's agent. She owns and operates Standing Ovations, LTD, a London talent agency. Marvin Carlin: President and owner of Carlin's Marvelous Cards. He has been trying to obtain Clappini's endorsement for his new product. Valentina Svengesi: Managing Director of Svengesi's Strong Suits Playing Cards. Clappini has used these Bulgarian cards for 10 years. Mona Lapham: A music hall dancer who met Clappini in London. She is said to be in love with him. Shelton Sky: An attorney from South Africa. Call (800) 881-1183 for reservations. ******************************************** Murder Plays a Sour Note It's New Year's Eve at The Pitz, the city's most famous (or is it infamous?) supper club. The usual mix of customers, some noteworthy and some notorious, decorate the tables that surround the crowded dance floor. Everyone in the gregarious group of rarified revelers hoists a glass of champagne and readies their noise makers preparing to celebrate the arrival of the year 1955. As the clock strikes midnight, Lou Gumbardo and his band, "The Loyal Geraniums," begin the familiar strains of Auld Lang Syne. The moment has arrived - a new year that promises to continue the post-war boom of the Eisenhower administration. Suddenly, without warning, the club is in darkness and, amid the rumbling of the assembled guests, three shots ring out. When the lights go on again, it's deadly obvious that the darkened room provided a killer with the opportunity to put a strategic bullet hole into a surprised victim. Someone had dictated the dastardly demise of Sammy Fenetra, lead singer of the band. His mellow tones had made women swoon and music fans turn somersaults. Lou Gumbardo: Band leader of "The Loyal Geraniums." For the past ten years, his band has been a New Year's Eve fixture at The Pitz. Roxy Romano: Owner of The Pitz and former dancer. Roxy has worked hard to make her establishment the number one supper club in the city. Giovanni Fishi: Reputed mob boss. Although he supposedly runs a successful string of dry cleaning shops, its common knowledge that his income comes from other sources. Mary Rose Looney: Songstress. She's been with "The Loyal Geraniums" for the past three years and plans on leaving the band to start her own musical career. Betty "Boom Boom" Baxter: Drummer. She's famous for her talent in making percussion come alive. Sometimes she drowns out the rest of the band with her downbeats. Tony "Ivory" Ivanski: Pianist. He tickles the keys and makes them roar with laughter. Who'd want to shoot him? After all, he's only the piano player. Shirley Fedora: Hat check girl. She runs the cloak room and knows what everybody's coat and hat looks like. Richmond Dalley: Mayor of the city. He's been running things for over two decades. If you're not part of his machine, you might as well be invisible. Murder Mystery and Dinner Only: $65/per person, plus tax and gratuity Packages: Dinner for two, breakfast for two, best available room without hot tub $249, with hot tub $299. ******************************************** March 15 (Saturday) Chamber music TBA.
