FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 15, 2007 Story Inn to Offer Four Chamber Music Ensembles October 7 Is "Mozart on the Meadow" Spoleto or Spolato? Either Way, it's Appropriate Rural Music
W.A. Mozart ***************************** "We may have the most beautiful spot here in the State of Indiana" brags Story Inn owner Rick Hofstetter. "Which is why we wish to honor it with the most beautiful music composed by man." That man is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), by all accounts the most brilliant composer of all time. On Sunday, October 7, Indiana's oldest bed & breakfast will be hosting four Chamber Music ensembles to feature exclusively the music of Mozart. Two of the mini-concerts will be outdoors in the garden and free of charge. Two will be indoors for dining patrons. "We are uniquely placed here to do this event" says Hofstetter, referring to the proximity of the Jacob School of Music at Indiana University just 35 miles away. "My wife is from Charleston, South Carolina. Each spring she nags me to attend Spoleto. She says 'Spoleto', I say 'Spolato'. For years, the Story Inn has been hosting Chamber Music ensembles to play to the weekend dinner and brunch crowds. Two of Story's most accomplished musicians, Katya and Matvey Lapin, who perform under the name Duo Amabile, have organized the music for this year's "Mozart on the Meadow". The Story Inn is of particular significance to these Russian immigrants. "We love this place, it is home, it is where we were married" says Katya. She and her husband will be playing in the very garden where they were married just three years ago. A preview: At 10:00 a.m., A MORNING OF MOZART, an all-acoustic, string ensemble which will perform near Vera's Appropriate Rural Vegetable Garden, under the scarlet canopy of a sugar maple. Admission: FREE (but limited to to restaurant patrons). Culinary offerings: Champagne, mimosas, wine, full Brunch menu. I don't try to imagine a personal God; it suffices to stand in awe at the structure of the world, insofar as it allows our inadequate senses to appreciate it. ---Albert Einstein At 3:30 p.m., MOZART MIT KAFFEE UND KUCHEN, another acoustic string ensemble which will perform at Vera's Appropriate Rural Herb Garten, near the Old Barn, under a blue autumn sky.
