STORY INN ANNOUNCES "CONCEIVABLE STORIES" CONTEST

******************************************

Southern Indiana Hamlet Seeks to Document Stories of its

Legendary Fertility

*********************************

For decades, the Story Inn has touted itself as the ultimate romantic getaway: a 19th century village turned bed & breakfast nestled in the hills of southern Indiana.  It's a place where couples come to dine, wed, plunge into hot tubs, and snuggle into rooms without phones, clocks, radios or televisions.  Under such conditions, they apparently do what else comes naturally.  "We constantly hear from our customers about the good times they have had here" owner Rick Hofstetter says with a twinkle in his eye.  "Then, they show me the baby photos".

With a population of only six people, two dogs, two cats, and five horses, Story, Indiana hardly registers on demographers' radar screens.  "We had a filly born here this year" asserts Angela Hofstetter, Rick's wife.  "And a few years ago, Rick and I had a kid, too" she says, tongue-in-cheek, referring to her goat Phoebe.

Both Rick and Angela believe that the official census may be grossly understating the town's demographic impact.  "I have heard way too many stories of couples conceiving babies here, and if only half of them are true, we do have a statistical anomaly that deserves further investigation" says Rick, grousing at having had to replace the Inn's mattresses in 2006.

Rick proposes to add credibility to the anecdotal accounts with an incentive: The best "Conceivable Story" wins a $1,000 gift certificate to the venerable Story Inn, plus dinner for two on Valentine's Day.  "We intend to publish the stories on our website, www.storyinn.com, complete with baby pictures" he says.  "And if first you don't conceive, then try, try again"!

The rules are very simple.  The Story Inn is seeking a narrative account of guests' conceivable experiences, not to exceed 1,000 words.  "We more or less assume that there is a common element at work here, and we intend find out what what it is.  Our theory is that it might be the Riesling" says Rick.  Deadline for submittals is February 13, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.  The consummation of the contest will occur on Valentine's Day, when the lucky winner will be announced.
