Wheeler Homestead [Back / East]
This historic tin-roofed cottage was constructed
in the mid 19th century and occupied by Alra Wheeler, who successfully ran the
General Store during Story's heyday. The cottage sits right across the road
from the General Store, in the center of town. The East side is quite large,
with two private bedrooms (both pictured), each with full-sized beds.
This cottage underwent extensive renovations in 2007, and has a full kitchen, private deck
with porch swing, and a large living room with a comfortable new queen-sized fold-out sleeper sofa. We
rebuilt the bathroom in this cottage (pictured), which now has a
large shower, an antique-style claw-footed tub, and two wash basins. This is
the perfect cottage for family gatherings.
