"This award belongs in Brown County" Innkeeper Rich said seeking further inclusion on their website.
Rich claims to have more in common genetically to a mouse clenched between Travis's teeth than to operating a business in a free and fair economy. "Taxing specific industry creates the market failure" Less government intervention systematically encourages economic tourism, decreases prices for guests, while increasing wages for staff. "People created these policies so they can be corrected, urgently".
"More important than recognition of achievement are the systems and conditions to replicate success". Rich inherited the honorific challenge to preserve the Story Historic District and fears that current economic policies create monumental hurdles for other businesses as well as future generations.
"It's my privilege to work alongside the best team in the best county in the best state in the best country in history. Opportunities like this should be more easily available, and would be without so much government interference". Innkeeper Rich often times refers to the thousands of dollars innkeepers tax Story pays every month as hinderance to business, which equates to about $6-7 per hour per housekeeping employee. "The numbers and use of funds is staggering. Restoring a balanced economic environment will allow other B&Bs to start, thrive, and improve the livelihoods for countless others".
"Get it in while you can. Without government correction, we will eventually be forced to abandon the Benjamin Package that helped win us the award" Rich said, cautiously observing macroeconomic market trends in contrast philosophically to sustaining the best value at a fair price.
Overnight dining packages include choice of available room in the inn, two entrees, sides, n/a beverage, tax and gratuity for the $200 'Benjamin Package'. Fridays and Saturdays please add $50+, cottage upgrades add $50+, 4-course Prix Fixe Dinner Reservations add $150.
The purpose of one event is to have another. The CVB knocked the Gay Pride Parade out of the park 9/26 which is why a follow-up is needed. However, Story's invitation to host a government funded burlesque/cabaret comes with the caveat, to only to spend the tax dollars that are provided by Story. In this instance, hundreds of thousands of dollars remain at disposal.

"I'm not suggesting to give several thousands of dollars to each housekeeper", though it would be both appropriate and rural for the occasion. "Instead of dancing for the money we pay the government wouldn't it be nicer for those who earn to receive". Rich agrees with CVB management, with other advocates for the dissolution of the CVB.
"Their (CVB) management team admit to knowing how bad they are, years ago. We're just now seeing their higher vultures pick through the remains" Rich hopes the poor taxation and government policies wouldn't discourage future visitors. "They should go away. The People of Brown County deserve better".
The 1851 Club is designed to give away overnight rooms and cottages to guests who enjoy dining and events experiences.
The local authorities have shifted the economic incentives for the hotel industry where including rooms for free is worth exploration. This cost saving measure is responsive to the 8% innkeepers tax, to encourage tourism, reduce inflation within the local industry, while simultaneously allowing higher wages for staff.
"Fortunately, no one is forcing me to give away rooms, This is a conscious, rational decision because the path is easier than continuing to conventionally operate within the local business climate" Innkeeper Rich claims. Guests may still pay for their rooms but can now choose from annual $500 and $1,000 inclusive dining and events packages.

Rooms in the inn are $600. "It's not just my opinion that everyone in the CVB should be fired. Their office manager said she feared going under at their recent Story inn Luncheon/Town Tour. Despite the forewarning from those assumed gone, the CVB is persistent, to ask businesses to to solicit pictures of gay/lesbian weddings. "Call me old fashioned but that's never been the job of government". Recently, Story tax dollars paid for the CVB promoted Gay Pride Parade, hosted Sept 26.
